Plywood work table S

Digital fabrication workflow to produce furniture from open-source architectural plans. The focus of this project was the translation from digital file to physical object, ensuring precision lamination and joinery.

Technical Process
CAD/CAM & Optimization: Processed vector files for CNC operations, ensuring correct toolpath strategies for clean edges and minimal tear-out. Executed efficient nesting strategies to maximize material yield from Birch plywood sheets.
CNC Machining: Machined parts with tight tolerances to ensure the “press-fit” and hidden joinery systems functioned correctly without the need for excessive mechanical fasteners.
Lamination & Assembly: The structural legs required lamination (face-gluing multiple layers) to create heavy-duty supports.Utilized high-pressure clamping techniques to ensure seamless bond lines, making the laminated parts appear as solid timber blocks.Assembled internal sub-structures with hidden joinery, ensuring the final piece remained visually clean with no visible screws.
Surface Finishing:Extensive sanding schedule to prepare the plywood end-grain.Applied multiple coats of Natural Tung Oil to protect the wood while highlighting the topographic look of the plywood layers.
